Our Structure

District

  • Made up of a number of Scout Groups in a geographic area
  • Help provide resources and program support and coordination to Scout Groups
  • Have a number of leadership positions within them (such as District Commissioner) to support Groups in their delivery of Scouting.

Group

  • Made up of all the Units (one or more for each age section) that have a home base at a certain location, normally a Scout Hall
  • Youth members and adult leaders of youth are members of a Scout Group
  • Provides an important community for Scouts and supports Scouts to transition through the sections
  • Administers the personal progression of Scouts and supports Scouts to transition through the sections
  • Administers the personal progression of Scouts through the program
  • Coordinated and supported by volunteer adult and youth leaders, families and community members.

Unit

  • Made up of a collection of Scouts in a certain age section, supported by adult leaders
  • Runs the program for that age section
  • Lead by a Unit Council, made up of youth and adult leaders from the Unit.

Patrol

  • A small team of Scouts led by peers
  • May be a ‘Home Patrol’, where the same small team from the same Unit join activities on a regular basis
  • May be a ‘Project Patrol’, where a team of Scouts (not necessarily from the same Unit) form for a specific activity or project.
