{"id":19,"date":"2024-11-28T05:58:38","date_gmt":"2024-11-28T05:58:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sa.scouts.com.au\/flinderspark\/parents\/"},"modified":"2026-10-16T12:02:37","modified_gmt":"2026-10-16T01:32:37","slug":"parents","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sa.scouts.com.au\/flinderspark\/programs\/parents\/","title":{"rendered":"Parents"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scouting is even better when families get involved!<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At Flinders Park Scout Group, we believe Scouting is a fantastic opportunity for young people to develop new skills, build confidence, make friends and enjoy exciting adventures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And while our young people are at the heart of everything we do, the support of parents and families helps make those experiences possible!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scouting is powered by volunteers, from our dedicated Leaders who run weekly activities to the parents and community members who lend a hand behind the scenes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>You don&#8217;t need to have Scouting experience to get involved, and every little bit of help makes a difference!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How can parents help?<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are lots of ways to support the group, depending on your time, interests and availability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Transport<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Occasionally, we need help transporting young people to and from activities, excursions and events. Offering a lift when you&#8217;re available can make a big difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Working Bees<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our Scout Hall and grounds need regular care to remain safe and welcoming for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We hold working bees throughout the year and encourage families to lend a hand where they can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whether it&#8217;s gardening, cleaning, general maintenance or sharing a specialised skill, every contribution is appreciated!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Helping at Weekly Meetings<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes our Leaders need an extra pair of hands for games, activities, projects or special events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Parents may also be invited to help on a roster to ensure we have appropriate adult supervision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You don&#8217;t need to be an expert \u2014 just being willing to help makes a difference!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Parents Committee<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our Parents Committee plays an important role in supporting the Group and helping it thrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The committee assists with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Managing group finances and fundraising.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintaining the Scout Hall and grounds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Organising social activities and community events.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supporting volunteer recruitment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promoting Flinders Park Scouts and helping the group grow.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Joining the committee is a great way to contribute without the weekly commitment of being a Scout Leader.<\/strong> It&#8217;s also a chance to meet other families and have a say in the future of the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Become a Scout Leader<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Looking for a more hands-on way to get involved?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Becoming a Scout Leader is a rewarding opportunity to help young people discover new skills, build confidence and experience exciting adventures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No previous Scouting experience is required, and Scouts SA provides training and support to help you get started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/sa.scouts.com.au\/leaders\/\"><strong>Scouts SA Leaders page<\/strong><\/a> to learn more about volunteering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Helping Everyone Have a Great Scouting Experience<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To help keep our weekly meetings and activities safe, enjoyable and welcoming for everyone, we ask parents and families to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Arrive on time and prepared:<\/strong> Help your child arrive with the appropriate clothing, equipment and any required paperwork so everyone can make the most of the activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Respect group ceremonies:<\/strong> Encourage respectful behaviour during opening and closing ceremonies, special occasions and presentations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Minimise distractions:<\/strong> If you&#8217;re staying during a meeting, please keep conversations with other parents away from the main activity area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Supervise younger siblings:<\/strong> Please ensure younger children are appropriately supervised to keep everyone safe and avoid disrupting activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Encourage positive behaviour:<\/strong> Remind your child to treat others with kindness and respect, listen to Leaders and participate positively.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Support our volunteer Leaders:<\/strong> Our Leaders generously give their time to Scouting. We appreciate families encouraging their children to be respectful and responsive to Leaders.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Get involved where you can:<\/strong> Whether it&#8217;s helping at an activity, attending a working bee or supporting a fundraiser, every contribution makes a difference!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Thank You for Being Part of Our Scouting Community!<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whether you&#8217;re helping at a working bee, driving to an activity, volunteering at a meeting or simply encouraging your child to get involved, <strong>your support helps make Flinders Park Scouts a great place to belong.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Together, we can create even more adventures and opportunities for our young people!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Scouting is even better when families get involved!
