For the first three weeks your child can come and join in with the activities to see if they like it. During that time they are automatically covered by the Scout Association for insurance purposes. Parents are welcome to watch as well as participate.
Scouts SA Membership Fees
To continue with Scouting after the initial three visits your child will need to register with Scouts SA and pay the membership fee of $180 (from 1 April 2025). You can use South Australian Sports Vouchers toward this amount.
Group Fees
On joining, you will also need to pay a group joining fee of $125 which includes:
- $25 for a Happy Valley Scout Group scarf and woggle
- $30 for Section record books
- $70 discounted first term fee
After the first term, each Youth Member must pay term fees to the group of $130 per term.
Where do the fees go?
Happy Valley Scout Group is entirely self-funded.
Major costs include hall maintenance , bills, insurance, leader training and the purchasing of badges. (Badges are presented as soon as they are earned and there is no call for parents to purchase their child’s badges).
Uniform
The main part of a new scout’s uniform is their shirt, which is available from EXURBIA | The Adventure Supply Co. 134A The Parade, Norwood, SA 5067. They also need appropriate pants (or shorts) and enclosed shoes.
When your child is invested they will be presented with their Happy Valley Scout Group scarf, a woggle to go around it, and all of their badges.
