Engage School and OSHC programs
Scouts SA conduct Engage activities in conjunction with schools and offer 4 different themed workshops:
The workshops are structured around games and activities followed by a discussion and debrief all done to the year levels capability and understanding. We can also adapt our program to build in anything extra that the school might like undertaken. The sessions are fun and interactive but also teach and put into practice some valuable life skills.
Our sessions are flexible and can run in line with class time or for blocks of 1 to 1.5 hours with approximately 20 – 30 youth per session. Our activities require a bit of room so we ask that we are able to use the school’s gym or oval or any appropriate outdoor space and that a teacher is on hand at all times.
The Engage team talk to the students about Scouting, the opportunities available to them, and allow them to ask any questions. Flyers are handed out to youth and left with the school at the end of the day.
School holiday programs
Every School Holidays the Engage Team host up to 30 youth per day in a school holiday program held across a number of different Councils. We give youth a ‘taste’ of Scouting and promote our organisation to parents. Through the School Holiday programs Scouts SA builds our relationships with Councils and illustrate the active part in the community that Scouting holds.
The activities range from full day programs to 3-hour sessions. We provide a theme to the day, activity equipment and manage the ‘trybooking’ platform. Scouts SA provides all of the required resources and can engage directly with local youth and families.
If you have a community facility that would be interested in hosting a Scouts SA program then let us know, please contact email@example.com
Promotional opportunities, country shows and community events
The Engage Team – both independently and in direct support of Groups – attend a number of community events across the year to showcase Scouting and recruit members. By attending larger scale events such as country shows and Council events, more youth are exposed to Scouting in an interactive way. Our activity site always has a range of games and activities across all age ranges. Whilst the youth are involved in an activity, the Engage Officers talk to parents about the opportunities that Scouting can provide. We showcase the benefits of Scouting, hand out information about the local Scout Groups and make a great stop on any ‘yellow brick road’.

Facebook and Twitter are fantastic ways to promote Scouting. Please enjoy their use by posting photos and stories about the great activities you are doing in Scouts.
