Joey Scouts – Prepare to become a Joey Scout

Thursdays 6.00pm to 7.00pm
Joey Scouts is about discovering adventure!
Joey Scouts is where the adventure begins for young people aged 5 to 8. This section is all about fun, friendship, and discovery, as young people take their first steps in Scouting.
Joey Scouts explore their world, develop teamwork, learn outdoor skills, and engage with their community through exciting, hands-on activities.
In Joey Scouts, you will Discover Adventure alongside your Patrol, trying new experiences, playing outdoor games, and tackling creative challenges. You’ll start learning about leadership by making small decisions with your friends and begin to understand what it means to be a Scout.
Try new activities like abseiling, snorkeling, and canoeing. Discover bushwalking trails and bushcraft skills. Enjoy camping, playing games, and preparing campfires. The best part? In Joey Scouts, you and your Patrol help choose the activities and adventures you’ll go on.
A Joey Scout Journey
The Joey Scout Program focuses on a continuous journey of learning and growth with a core set of badges that build up upon each other.
These badges are designed to be flexible and adaptable to the needs and interests of each Joey Scout Unit member.
The Joey Scout stages represents progressive development throughout their time in the section, focusing on key areas such as:
- Belonging – Building friendships, teamwork and a sense of community.
- Exploring – Trying new activities, discovering interests and developing skills.
- Growing – Learning about themselves, setting goals and contributing to their community.
Each stage has a set of activities and challenges that a Joey Scout completes, encouraging them to grow and learn at their own pace. As they progress through the stages they earn badges to reflect their achievements.
