Our commitments
- Launch a youth member sponsorship program by 2026 with donors and alumni.
- Establish an Exchange Program framework for uniforms, badges, and resources.
SDG 4 – Quality Education
Overview
We aim to create socially equitable learning and lifelong education opportunities for all young people in Scouting.
Why action is needed
Education—formal and non-formal—builds essential life and work skills.
How this connects to Scouting
Scouting teaches interpersonal, practical, and leadership skills across SA.
Our commitments
- Ensure four character-development courses are run each year.
- Increase SAIT/VET achievements by 20% among eligible youth by 2028.
- Build an SME network and publish a directory by end of 2025.
SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities
Overview
Scouts SA is dedicated to being an inclusive organisation where all young people feel safe, belong, and can participate in diverse activities.
Why action is needed
Discrimination harms wellbeing and undermines our values. We commit to fostering respect, understanding, and inclusivity across Scouting and the wider community.
How this connects to Scouting
Scouting must be a safe, inclusive “third place”. If inclusivity fails, we fail our mission.
Our commitments
- Leader Review Process accessible by youth by 2026.
- Diversity & Inclusion refresher training and module by end of 2025.
- Accessibility & Inclusivity Checklist for halls/events by 2026, with adaptable event guidelines.
SDG 13 – Climate Action
Overview
We’re committed to climate action through education, leadership, and community projects that build a climate-resilient future.
Why action is needed
Climate change and biodiversity loss threaten our planet and outdoor environments central to Scouting.
How this connects to Scouting
The outdoors is our classroom; we must leave places better than we found them.
Our commitments
- Facilitate major Clean Up Australia Day events by 2026.
- Waste reduction initiative: three-bin system in SA Scouting locations, with education & signage by 2027.
