Events and Activities: Making Lifelong Memories
Events and activities are at the heart of the Scouts experience. From local outings to large-scale events like Hoporees and Jamborees, these moments give young people the chance to make genuine friendships and memories that last a lifetime. And just like everything we do, our events are youth-led and adult-supported.
A world of adventure awaits
The range of activities on offer in Scouts is limited only by imagination. Because our program is youth-led, it truly is a choose-your-own adventure. Young people can try their hand at motorsport, surfing, sailing, cycling, or abseiling — or explore their creative side through performing arts, radio, robotics, cooking, and electronics. Activities are chosen by the young people themselves, based on their interests and the goals they set for their own achievements.
Scouting isn’t just about physical challenge, though. It’s about stepping outside your comfort zone, discovering something new about yourself, and picking up skills you never expected to have.
When young people push through challenges, they grow in confidence, self-esteem, and resilience. When they do it alongside others, they build the kind of friendships that last well beyond their Scouting years.
Hoporee
Description
Hoporee is an exciting overnight camping adventure for Joey Scouts — a big, fun-filled weekend where young members aged 5 to 8 come together with their fellow Joeys from across South Australia to explore, play, and make memories in the great outdoors. Packed with themed activities, friendly challenges, and evening entertainment, it’s a chance for Joeys to build confidence, make new friends, and experience the magic of their first big camp in a safe and supportive environment.

Cuboree
Description
Cuboree is a big, fun-filled camping adventure for Cub Scouts aged 9 to 11 — a weekend where young members from across South Australia come together to explore, play, and make memories in the great outdoors.
Packed with themed activities, friendly challenges, and evening entertainment, it’s a chance for Cubs to build confidence, make new friends, and experience the magic of their first big camp in a safe and supportive environment.

Easter Venture
Description
Easter Venture is an annual four-day competitive hiking event held over the Easter long weekend, open to Venturer Scouts, older Scouts, and Guides.
Your child will take part as part of a small team of four to seven participants, hiking together across the full event. Teamwork is at the heart of Easter Venture — teams must stay together throughout the hike, giving young people a genuine opportunity to develop leadership, communication, and resilience in a challenging outdoor environment.

Branch Hike
Description
Branch Hike is an exciting Scouts SA event open to all Scouts in the Scout Section.
Over the weekend, your child will take part in a two-day hiking program themed around space exploration, visiting activity checkpoints along the trail, enjoying an evening program at camp, and experiencing the camaraderie that makes Scouting so rewarding. It is a fantastic opportunity for Scouts to challenge themselves, develop new skills, and have a great time with their patrol.

Super Splash
Description
Super Splash is the Scouts SA Venturer Section’s annual end-of-year celebration for members aged 13–18. Held over a fun-filled weekend, it’s a fully catered, activity-packed event featuring everything from kayaking, climbing, and caving to archery, swimming, and a disco. There’s no set program — members come and go as they please, try new activities, and spend time with friends. It’s also a fantastic introduction for older Scouts looking to experience what the Venturer Section is all about.

Baden Powell Patrol Bushcraft Challenge
Description
The Baden Powell Patrol Bushcraft Challenge tasks Scout patrols with designing and constructing a freestanding pioneering structure entirely from ropes and spars — no shortcuts, no fixed objects.
