Young people can enjoy a free trial at their local group. The process involved is this easy:

1. Find the Group/s you are interested in joining here and submit an enquiry.
2. A member of our team will get in touch with you regarding your initial visit.
3. Before your first visit, you must fill out a membership application form. This gives Leaders important contact information for when the young person attends their Scout meeting
4. There is a four to six-week trial period for you or your young one to explore Scouts. After that, you will become a full member unless you decide not to continue.

Most Scout Groups hold weekly meetings at their Scout Hall during term time. Parents are not required to attend but are encouraged to get involved as much as possible as an adult helper to help the group operate at its best.

At Scouts SA, we ensure that all funds go directly towards running our Youth Program and providing essential training and resources for our Leaders and members. Our dedicated Leaders and helpers are all volunteers, which helps keep costs down and makes Scouting accessible to everyone.

We offer an exciting program with numerous opportunities, and our membership fees are designed to keep Scouts open to all. The South Australian Government Sports Voucher can be used to participate in Scouts, and we have support programs in place to assist families facing financial challenges, ensuring that every young person can join in the adventure.

Cost Breakdown:

• State Membership Fee: This includes essential member insurance, Leader training, a wide range of resources, and support services such as finance, IT, property and facilities, child safety, marketing, and communication.
• Local Group Fee: Covers the week-to-week expenses of running Scouts, including resources, maintenance and utilities of the Scout Hall, and regular meeting activities.
• One-off Costs: There are endless opportunities for additional participation in Scouts, which may involve fees for camping, travel, events, and more.
