Get Involved as an Adult Helper
There are many flexible ways for adults to contribute to their local Scout Group without the time commitment required for a uniformed Leader role. Adult Helpers regularly attend Scout meetings and activities to assist with tasks, allowing Leaders to focus on planning and running activities, ensuring youth members have the best Scouting experience.
Adult Helpers can get involved in various ways, both big and small. From assisting with activities to helping out at a Bunnings sausage sizzle or setting up the Scout Hall, there are many opportunities to join in the fun of Scouting and positively impact young people. The younger sections of Scouting, such as Joey Scouts and Cub Scouts, particularly need the support of Adult Helpers.
Ways Adult Helpers Can Contribute:
- Volunteering for duties such as Hall set up or clean up
- Completing DIY jobs or gardening at the Scout Hall
- Supporting Group fundraising efforts
- Managing finances after fundraising activities
- Assisting with Group excursions, food preparation, and offering unique talents for theme nights
- Researching grants
- Supporting Group communications
- Utilising their skills to benefit the Group
Child safety is our top priority at Scouts SA. Therefore, all Adult Helpers are thoroughly screened, undergo a Police Check, must hold a valid, verified Working With Children Check, and complete two online training modules to ensure the safety of our youth members.
