A Scout Group is entirely self funded and is managed by a Leadership team made up of the Group Leader and Assistant Group Leader who work to support and manage Leaders and Adult Volunteers
The GSC Office Bearers (Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer) along with the Group Leader form the Group Support Committee Executive – the three office bearers are voted in at the Group Annual General Meeting.
The Group Support Committee works with the Group Leader/ Assistant Group Leader to provide the resources and facilities to enable the Group to operate its programs. This can include areas such as fundraising, grants, hall maintenance/ upgrades, social activities, financial management and much more.
Membership of the Committee outside of these positions varies throughout the year depending on functions and tasks requiring attention.
It is important that all sections of our Group (each individual night) are represented as a linkage between the families of that section and the committee.

Adult Leaders and Adult Helpers
You’re never too old to join the adventurous life of Scouting, even if you haven’t been involved before.
Everyone is welcome to join Scouting, and Scouts Australia offers adults aged 18 years and over a host of rewarding opportunities to help make a difference in young people’s lives.
Adult volunteers are the backbone of Scouting, who care about the guidance and development of the young people as well as the community in which they live.
No prior experience is necessary to become a Scout Leader. All Leaders undergo training on all aspects of youth leadership, program planning, safety and other requirements. They are also given resources of program ideas to help them get started.
Leaders are required to attend:
· Group meetings one night a week during school terms
· A monthly Leaders meeting
· Group activities, such as hiking or camping trips, which take place a few weekends during the year
Child safety is very important to Scouts. Therefore, along with training in child safety, adult members must undergo a standard Police check to ensure the safety of our youth members.

At present you’ll either be helping regularly in a particular Section or considering doing so.
The next steps involve some paperwork, police checks and then once accepted some Leader training.
Discussion with our Group Leader to discuss:
Completion of the A1 – Adult Member Application form, which includes the National Police Check and Working with Children Check.
Prior to becoming a Leader in Scouting you need to complete a Police Check. All Leaders undertake a 3 yearly check to ensure the safety of our members.
You will then be able to be invested as a Leader in Scouting and as an official member of the Hackham Scout Group.
