Scouts SA’s Joeys and Cubs to Make a Big Splash!
March 19, 2025On Sunday, March 16th, over 350 energetic kids aged 5 to 11 gathered at Point Malcolm Reserve, Semaphore, for the highly anticipated Big Splash event. With kids from the Joeys and Cubs Scouts groups across South Australia, the day was filled with excitement, adventure, and the perfect mix of fun in the sun.
The Big Splash was a brand new event that offered Scouts the unique opportunity to engage in a day of water-themed activities—an experience that is often hard to come by through schools or even at home. This year’s event featured an incredible variety of activities designed to foster teamwork, resilience, leadership, and most importantly, a whole lot of fun!

From boogie boarding and swimming to flying kites and the classic favourite of burying a leader in the sand, the day was packed with adventure for all participants. Whether kids were seeking a thrilling challenge or simply looking to enjoy a relaxed day at the beach with their Unit or family, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Thanks to the support of Scouts SA, the event was accessible for just $10 per youth participant, offering a full day of action-packed activities from 10 AM to 4 PM. With the beach as the backdrop, the energy was high, and the smiles were endless as Scouts embraced the spirit of fun, friendship, and learning.
As the day drew to a close, it was clear that The Big Splash was a resounding success—one that not only brought joy to participants but also reinforced the values of adventure and leadership within the Scouts community.
It was a fantastic day to be a part of, and we can’t wait to see what future events Scouts SA has in store!
