The Subtle Art of Rogaining: 24-hour State Champs
September 19, 2025Congratulations to the three Venturer Scouts: Ryan and Abigail (Aldinga Bay), and Colby (Lones), for winning the 24-hour event mixed juniors’ category at the recent South Australian Rogaine Association (SARA) State Championships. Being their first 24-hour rogaine, the team also placed competitively overall, and we believe they are now eligible to enter the 20th World Rogaining Championships to be held in the Flinders Ranges in 2027.

We also want to congratulate Al and Zita for coming second in the Scout category, and Fern, Tyson, Patrick, and Mia for placing third in the Scout category, as well as winning the Family category.
This year’s SARA State Championships were held over the weekend of 6-7 September, located on Tuilkilkey Station, 40 km east of Terowie in the mid-north.
The Scouts SA Bushwalking Team and staff from the University of Adelaide’s Physics Department assisted in setting up the event course. Well done, team!
The next rogaine event on the calendar is the minigaine in Gawler on Saturday, 1 November. The minigaine is co-organised by the SA Rogaine Association and the Scouts SA Bushwalking Team.
We hope to see you there!
