What do you need for different Ages and Activities?
Be prepared for Adventure

Getting ready for your next adventure!

One of the great things about Scouting is the variety of activities and adventures young people get to experience!

Different age groups participate in different activities, so the equipment needed will vary depending on your child’s section and what they’ve got planned.

Don’t worry — you don’t need to buy lots of expensive equipment to get started!

Our Leaders will let you know what your child needs for regular meetings, camps and special activities. Some equipment may be available to borrow, so it’s always worth checking before purchasing anything new.

What Should I Bring to Weekly Meetings?

For most regular Scout meetings, your child will only need a few essentials:

  • A water bottle
  • Comfortable, closed-toe shoes
  • Suitable clothing for the weather and planned activities
  • A hat and sunscreen for outdoor activities
  • Any additional items requested by their Leader

Once your child officially joins Scouts, they’ll also need a Scout uniform.

Scout Uniforms

Scouts wear a uniform that helps create a sense of belonging and identifies the section they’re part of.

Each Scouting section has its own uniform, and your Leader will explain what your child needs and when to purchase it.

Uniforms and other Scouting supplies can be purchased through Exurbia – The Adventure Supply Co..

Getting Ready for Camps and Adventures

Camping is a big part of the Scouting experience, and the equipment needed will depend on your child’s age, the activity and the time of year.

Our Leaders will let you know what to bring, and some equipment may be available to borrow.

For a helpful packing checklist, visit our What Do You Need for Camping? page.

Don’t Forget to Label Everything!

Please clearly label your child’s clothing, water bottle and equipment with their name.

For District or State events, you may also be asked to include the Flinders Park Scout Group name.
