Other Entry Level Motorsport Events

Motorsport goes well beyond the events run by Scout Motorsport with a range of Non-Speed and Speed events run by other Motorsport Australia Affiliated clubs across the state and nation with the full national events calendar available here.

SMCSA encourage members to explore different events and programs offed by Motorsport Australia affilicated car clubs and by prior arrangement will try and support members with car and equipment hire arrangements and providing trackside support, driver instruction (subject to event rules).

The below events are recommended as Junior and new competitor friendly and act as a great starting point to building motorsport experience and enhancing your car control and race craft.

SA Motorkhana Championship and Come & Try

Non-Speed event available competitors aged 12 and above with minimal car preparation and safety equipment required to participate. Competition involves a series of timed tests involving precision driving through a set course with forwards and backwards navigation. Motorkhana Video

  • Events allow in car instructors which can be arranged through SMCSA
  • Regular road cars can be used or a Scout car can be hired
  • Equipment requirements are minimal with helmets optional in most vehicles

Come & Try Hillclimb- Sporting Car Club SA

Come and Try Hillclimb events offer entrants the opportunity to test their skills in a non-competitive and fun environment. Introductory (one day) licence can be booked with your entry.

  • Event support can be provided and in car instruction may be possible subject to event organiser approval.
  • Road cars with minimal safety modifications may participate (Fire Extinguisher, tow point/straps and vehicle stickers)
  • Safety equipment includes helmet, fireproof wrist to neck to ankle clothing and non flammable footwear.

Regularity Rookies- Track Time Motorsport

Regularity is about tactical driving. The objective is to let you compete with limited speed restriction to suit your own driving ability and skill level, making it competition motorsport rather than racing. Regularity is a great motorsport event for either the beginner or the most experienced competitor. Being relatively safe and affordable, it attracts enthusiasts of all ages and gender.

  • Event support can be provided with many SMCSA members completing in these events.
  • Road cars with minimal safety modifications may participate (Fire Extinguisher, tow point/straps and vehicle stickers)
  • Safety equipment includes helmet, fireproof wrist to neck to ankle clothing and non flammable footwear.

Dirt Junior Development Program – Southern Districts Car Club

Southern Districts Car Club run a Junior Development Program focused on car control and Dirt khanacross skill development. This multi day program can open opportunities to participation in a range of dirt motorsport categories including lower speed Khanacross and autocross events and potentially leading to rallysprint and Rally driving opportunities.

Tarmac Junior Development Program- Tarmac JDP Association SA

The Tarmac Junior Development Program is a unique driver training program for young people who want to compete in motorsport. It is designed to teach and upskill young people in driving and safety techniques for motorsport competition. Run over 4 days, the participants who successfully complete the program are better equipped to compete in a professional and consistent manner. This program often leads into participation in Regularity, SuperSprint and circuit racing events.
