At Flinders Park Scout Group we offer three FREE ‘Come and Try’ sessions to allow interested youth to experience Scouting. During this time you are automatically covered by the Scout Association for insurance purposes. Parents are encouraged to come along and watch what happens so that they get a feel for what their children are experiencing.
Our Units occasionally leave the hall for visits and other activities. To avoid disappointment please contact our Group Leader to book a ‘Come and Try’ session.
The Scout uniform consists of a shirt, scarf & woggle, trousers and belt. During our regular meetings our members wear the shirt and scarf, with pants of their own choice. When a young person decides to join our Group we will supply the scarf, woggle, badges and record books. The shirt is available for purchase from Exurbia – The Parade, Norwood.
Scouting is all about learning new skills in the outdoors. Our Units participate in sleepovers and camps. Activities range from day/overnight to extended trips. The cost of these activities is an extra expense; however, we aim to keep the price of such activities to a minimum. Our Units aim to have at least one overnight activity each term. The cost of these activities depends on the specific activities involved and the travel distance.
Our Scout Group is entirely self-funded, and must meet our various expenses throughout the year. Our Group must cover the costs of maintaining the Scout Hall, as well as paying the normal water, electricity and insurance bills. We also pay the initial and ongoing costs of registering and training our Leaders and supplying their uniforms. The investment that you make for your child’s Scouting experience goes towards the maintenance of our hall and equipment, and also ensures our Units are supplied with all the equipment and resources they need to run a successful program.
Scouting offers amazing value for money. The investment that you will make each term for your child’s Scouting experience is:

The Sports Vouchers program is an SA Government initiative that assists families in meeting the costs of their children’s sports and recreation activities. When used with Scouts, the voucher aims to make Scouting more accessible and affordable for everyone by contributing $100 to the Branch membership fee.
Our Scout Group encourages fundraising for various reasons, including maintenance of our hall and equipment, and to support youth members attending major events (such as Jamborees). Parents are encouraged to become involved in our Fundraising Committee and help support the growth of our Group.
Facebook and Instagram are fantastic ways to promote Scouting. Please enjoy their use by posting photos and stories about the great activities you are doing in Scouts.
