Joining Scouts at Flagstaff Hill
After about 3 visits your child will hopefully be close to deciding whether to join Scouts or not. Please discuss any queries with the Leaders over these weeks
If you have any queries about your membership please don’t hesitate to contact us at flagstaffhill@sa.scouts.com.au
Scout Uniform
To be invested Scouts will need their Scout uniform – this can be purchased from Exurbia, our Scout uniform retailer located in Norwood (or ordered online. Visit Exurbia online here.
You will need to purchase the uniform shirt.

Other accessories such as hats, jackets etc are optional that you may wish to purchase. Note for normal activities neat and tidy shorts/pants can be worn. For formal occasions Scouts will need the official stone/bone coloured pants.

Investiture Ceremony
The Investiture ceremony symbolises a new Scout’s entry into the Scouting movement. Our Leaders will discuss an appropriate time where the new member can invite special guests to witness.
As part of this ceremony new members will make their Scout Promise and be presented with their Group scarf and badges.
The investiture is the official welcoming of a new member to our organisation of over 60 million people worldwide!
Administration
The Scouts SA application form needs to be completed to finalise your child’s registration. If this still needs completing we will advise you.
Operoo
Scouts SA utilises Operoo to collect health/medical information about members. You will receive a request to create a profile and share it with Scouts if you haven’t received this already. When creating your profile we would appreciate if a photo could be uploaded to help our Leaders identifying youth members!
Membership Fee Invoice
Our team will process your membership and send through an invoice for membership fees. We invoice fees in 2 installments for the year – Term 1 and 2, then Term 3 and 4.
The fee invoice will explain the different fees, between the Scouts SA Membership fee and the Group fee as well as how you can use the SA Government for the Scouts SA fee if your child is eligible.
Communication
Our units use a variety of communication methods for weekly information. At Joey and Cub level a lot of communication is directed via parents but as your child moves into Scouts and Venturers much more information is provided to the youth members. If you are ever in doubt please contact us!
